Expedition in the South Atlantic

After going through immigration in Namibia and prior to getting on the ship for a month; the last time I would stand on terra firma for 30 days.

The morning before boarding the ship, hiking up the world’s tallest sand dune, Dune 7 in the Namib Desert, with a couple of other scientists from the expedition. Hiking in sand is harder than it looks because the sand is constantly sliding down as you climb, forcing you to climb at a rate higher than the rate at which the sand is falling!

Standing among a group of all male colleagues as I was the only female scientist from my university to work on this leg of the geophysics cruise.

Thankful to have been interviewed for this article about the expedition!
